As you apply to the UB School of Dental Medicine, this is your guide to help you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Prospective students should start by reviewing the admission statistics and requirements, exploring the application process through ADEA, and consulting with their pre-health advisor.
Please note that the DDS program is a four-year, full-time commitment and does not offer a part-time study option.
Applications to the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine are submitted through the American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS).
To ensure your application is received by our Admissions Committee, you must designate the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine as one of your selected schools within AADSAS.
The University at Buffalo DDS does not have a secondary or supplemental application.
However, there is a supplemental application fee.
AADSAS standardizes all application information and calculates grade point averages in a consistent manner.
Please note that AADSAS does not play any role in our selection process.
Once your application has been submitted and verified by AADSAS, all further communication regarding your application should be directed to our DDS admissions office.
The University at Buffalo does not verify transcripts.
There is a $100 USD supplemental application fee required to apply to the University at Buffalo DDS Program. This application fee:
Applicants will receive supplemental fee payment instructions by email once their DDS application has been verified by ADEA AADSAS.
These instructions are typically sent within one business day of verification. If you do not receive the email within two business days, please contact our Admissions Office for assistance.
We understand that applying to dental school can be costly. If you qualify, you may request an application fee waiver to help cover the cost of your application.
Applicants approved for the ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program should email a copy of their approval to sdmadmit@buffalo.edu
Provide official documentation verifying your participation as an undergraduate student in one of the following programs: EOP, HEOP, SEEK, CSTEP, MARC, PREP, RISE, LSAMP, McNair Scholars, or Project 1000.

Transcript verification must be completed by AADSAS by December 1, 2026.
Our Admissions Committee reviews applications using only the transcripts and grades verified by AADSAS.
Your formal application has been submitted through the AADSAS portal, and you have designated the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine as one of your selected schools.
Official DAT or CDAT scores, taken within the valid testing period, have been sent through the appropriate channels.
Do not send unofficial or official score reports directly to our Admissions Office.
Letters of evaluation from either a preprofessional committee or three individual letters of evaluation via the AADSAS portal.
Do not submit any letters directly to our admissions office.
Our Admissions Committee will notify you by email once your application is complete. You are welcome to contact the Admissions Office via email at any time with questions.
After an initial review of applications, selected candidates are invited for an interview to meet faculty and students and to become familiar with the School of Dental Medicine and the University.
The interview is a key component of the admissions process, allowing the Student Admissions Committee to get to know applicants personally.
Interviews are conducted annually from mid-September through end of February.
After each interview day, the applicant’s file is reviewed by the Student Admissions Committee.
Once the review is complete, the committee votes to reach an admission decision.
Applicants are notified of the committee’s decision by mail beginning December 15 and continuing through the following summer, until the class is full.
