DDS Licensure

DDS Licensure Disclosure

  • Per U.S. Federal Regulations, 34 CFR §668, and in compliance with the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) Manual version 24.2, December 16, 2024, the University at Buffalo provides the above mandatory disclosures related to the educational requirements for professional licensure and certification for academic programs leading to professional licensure to meet the educational requirements for licensure in states where UB students reside.
  • These disclosures do not provide any guarantee that any particular state licensure or certification entity will approve or deny your application. Furthermore, these disclosures do not account for changes in state law or regulation that may affect your application for licensure and occur after these disclosures have been made.
  • Since licensure is regulated by state, we strongly recommend that you visit the website of the state licensing board where you wish to become licensed.  It is important that you be aware of all such requirements and that you plan accordingly. (When feasible, include links to the state board webpages).

Accreditation

The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine’s DDS program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

  • We strongly recommend that you contact the individual state dental licensing board listed below to determine any additional requirements for licensure.
  • Other requirements often include, but are not limited to, passing the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE Parts I and II or INBDE); additional post-graduation examinations or mandatory residency training; a clinical licensing examination administered by either a state or regional testing agency or the ADA’s dental licensing objective structured clinical examination (DLOSCE); jurisprudence examination; application and licensing fees; criminal background checks; reference checks; and sedation permits.
  • It is important that you be aware of all such requirements and that you plan accordingly.
