Information for Newly Admitted DDS Students

DDS Accepted: Next Steps - Words.
  • Congratulations on your acceptance into the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, one of the nation’s premier centers for dental education, research and patient care.
  • This webpage provides information on how to formally accept your Doctor of Dental Surgery Program admission offer.
  • If you have any questions on how to confirm your participation in the DDS program, or the program itself, please do not hesitate to contact our DDS Admissions Office at 716-829-6925 or sdmadmit@buffalo.edu.
Step 1: Submit your $1,250 DDS Tuition Deposit
  • Please submit your $1,250 DDS Tuition Deposit by the deadline date indicated in your admission e-mail and acceptance letter. 

US Resident DDS Tuition Deposit

  • You will receive an e-mail approximately two buisness days after your admission offer that details online tuition deposit submission.
  • Your deposit must be submitted no later than 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time on the date indicated in your admission letter to secure your position.
  • Please contact sdmadmit@buffalo.edu if you don't receive the tuition deposit e-mail or if you are experiencing any technical problems.

International Student Tuition Deposit

  • Please allow three to five business days (after you receive your admission notifiication) to receive tuition deposit information.  

DDS Tuition Deposit Refund Policy

  • Tuition deposit refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to the School of Dental Medicine DDS Admissions Office by April 1, 2025.
  • No refund will be provided after this date.

DDS Tuition Deposit Deferral Policy

  • Please read the attached Doctor of Dental Surgery Minimum Standards for Admission and Matricuation.
Step 3: Submit your Statement of Confirmation

DDS Admission Confirmation

Per your DDS admission offer, the follow items must be received by our office no later than 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, on the deadline date indicated in your acceptance notification and acceptance letter:

  1. DDS Tuition Deposit
  2. Statement of Confirmation
  3. Certiphi Background Check Initiation (you will receive  background initiation instructions via e-mail).
  • Once your deposit and statement of confirmation are received, you will receive e-mail confirmation from our DDS admissions office indicating your seat in our class is reserved.  
  • Final Certiphi background check confirmation does not need to be completed by your admissions confirmation deadline to secure your seat in our class.
  • Final Certiphi background check confirmation will be sent separately at a future date. 

Admission Offer Deadlines

  • If you do not submit all required documentation by 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time on the deadline date indicated in your acceptance notification and acceptance letter, your admissions offer will be rescinded.
  • No exceptions will be made.

UB Applicant Portal

  • You will receive an e-mail approximately two buisness days after your admission offer that provides UB Applicant Portal instructions. 
  • You will use this system to submit your DDS Tuition Deposit and verify New York State residency (if applicable).
  • Note: International Students are required to submit UB Financial Statement and Bank Documentation via the UB Applicant Portal so an I-20 can be processed for their student visa.

TRANSCRIPT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

  • Your academic transcripts are not required at this time. 
  • Please DO NOT SEND any academic transcripts to the UB Applicant Portal.
  • The UB Applicant portal will indicate your Final Official Bachelor's Transcript as "awaiting". See below. Please disregard this. 
  • Our office will provide transcript submission instructions in March 2025 after our Admitted Student Day.

New York State Residency Verification

  • New York State Residency verification instructions will be sent to you in a forthcoming spring e-mail. You do not need to take any actions at this time.
  • However, if you indicated New York State Residency on your ADEA AADSAS application and would like to submit New York State documentation now, you can upload documents ot the UB Applicant portal.
