Dual Degree Program (DDS/MBA)

The School of Dental Medicine and the School of Management collaboratively offer a five-year program leading to both the DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and MBA (Master of Business Administration) degrees. These two leading programs combine to give future dentists the best in dental and business education. Students who pursue this dual degree will ideally be prepared for clinical dentistry as well as the business challenges of clinical practice.

Get Both Degrees in Five Years

The collaborative program reduces by one year the usual pattern of a four-year dental surgery program and a two-year MBA program. Each candidate must meet the degree requirements of each program.

DDS/MBA Dual Degree 5-Year Curriculum

How to Apply

Applicants must be considered for and accepted to each degree program independently. Therefore, they should be in process with the School of Dental Medicine and School of Management simultaneously and must meet the individual admissions criteria of each school.

DDS Application

Students wishing to pursue the dual program should apply to the DDS program prior to their first year of MBA study. Application to the School of Dental Medicine is made through the American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS).  Complete information regarding the DDS program Admission Requirements may be found on the School of Dental Medicine's website.

DDS Application Deadline:  The deadline for receipt of applications and all supporting materials is December 1.  Late applications will not be considered.  Early application is strongly encouraged as acceptances are offered as early as December 1. Waiting until the December 1 deadline is a poor strategy that results in an applicant competing for far fewer positions in the entering class. Keep in mind that it takes 6 to 8 weeks on average for AADSAS to forward your application to us. If at all possible, apply early in the cycle!

To request more information regarding the DDS program, please send an email to ub-sdm-admissions@buffalo.edu.

MBA Application

Students wishing to pursue the dual program should apply to the MBA program prior to their first year of DDS study. Applications for the MBA program must be submitted online beginning at the School of Management's website. Information and personal advisement are available at 203 Alfiero Center, North Campus.  The School of Management will accept the DAT (Dental Admission Test) in place of the GMAT.

MBA Application Deadline:  The deadline for receipt of DDS/MBA Dual Degree applications and all supporting materials is February 1.  Incomplete files will not be reviewed. It is expected that early applications will be complete within 30 days of original online submission.
