Application Processing Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a supplemental application and/or additional fee to apply for the University at Buffalo?
- No. There is no supplemental application required.
- However, there is a $100 USD University at Buffalo supplemental application fee that can be paid online.
- Candidates will receive supplemental fee payment instructions after they submit their online CAAPID application.
IMPORTANT
- You will receive the supplemental application fee payment link the next day after your submit your CAAPID application.
- Your CAAPID application status must be designated as "COMPLETE" to receive the supplemental fee link.
- If your CAAPID application status is listed as "RECEIVED", you will not receive the supplemental link until it changes to "COMPLETE".
What materials should I send directly to University at Buffalo?
- None. You do not need to send any application materials directly to our admissions office.
- After submitting your CAAPID application, you will receive an e-mail providing instructions to pay the supplemental fee.
- It is important that you designate Universtiy at Buffalo to receive your CAAPID application.
- Please do not sent any documentation to our IDP admissions office directly. Only documents submitted via the CAAPID portal will be reviewed and considered for admission.
When can I submit the University at Buffalo $100 supplemental application fee? How do I submit the fee?
- All applicants are required to pay the $100.00 USD supplemental application fee by the application deadline in order for their application to be processed and reviewed.
- The $100 USD supplemental application fee payment can only be made after you submit your CAAPID application.
- Once submitted, our supplemental application fee is non-refundable.
How will I know if you received my $100 supplemental application fee?
- Our admissions office will send supplemental fee payment confirmation or a reminder to submit supplemental application fee.
- No exceptions will be made for a late supplemental fee payment after the June 15, 2025 admissions deadline.
I submitted my application materials to CAAPID, when will it be processed by the University at Buffalo?
- Your application will be processed when your CAAPID status is “Complete”, and your $100.00 USD supplemental application fee has been submitted.
Will I receive any notification regarding the completion of my application from your school?
- Yes.
- Applicants will be notified via e-mail once their application is complete.
- Our committee will notify applicants if any additional application documents are required to complete their application.
- However, you are welcome to contact our admissions office to inquire about the status of your application.
Will my application be reviewed if a document is missing?
- No.
- Our committee will only review completed IDP applications.
I received an e-mail from the University at Buffalo notifying me that my application is complete. When can I expect an update on my status?
- Once your application is complete, your application will be sent to the admissions committee for a full file, formal review.
- The formal review process can take several weeks.
- Candidates will receive all application status updates directly via e-mail.
- Our committee does its best to keep candidates apprised of their status at all times.

What happens if I submit my CAAPID application on June 15, 2025, the admissions deadline date?
- Applicants are highly encouraged not to wait until the June 15, 2025 deadline to submit their CAAPID application.
- Applicants who apply on or near the ADEA/CAAPID deadline, must take full responsibility to complete both the CAAPID application and University at Buffalo requirements by the June 15, 2025 admissions deadline.
- Candidates who have not submitted a completed application by June 15, 2025 will not be considered for the 2026 cycle.
