The Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program is fully accredited, diverse, and dynamic in nature. It consists of multiple unique rotation sites where residents will become proficient in working with in many types of clinical environments with diverse patient populations.
Residents have the opportunity to address a complex variety of oral health needs by working with pediatric and adolescent patients in the clinical setting, caring for children from 0-18 years, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Western New York's pediatric population includes many immigrant and refugee children who often require specialized care and translation services. Students will gain experience treating patients with special health care needs and become comfortable and proficient in clinical procedures on patients with a variety of abilities. Emphasis is placed on specialty training for patients with medical, mental, physical, and developmental disabilities to ensure these vulnerable populations receive care from future generations of dental professionals.
