From the President

Dear Fellow UB Dental Alumni

First, I would like to tell you about myself, I graduated in 2013 from the esteemed, highly ranked (nationally and internationally), University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.  I am truly excited and honored to be your President for the next two years.  During my time in dental school, my class experienced many changes from years prior.  We were the inaugural class to welcome students participating in the greatly expanded International Dentist Program (IDP) and had many sweeping didactic and clinical curriculum modifications.  These changes were made easier by the support of our wide ranging and far-reaching alumni association.

Moving back to the area after a brief stint down south, I joined the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association Executive Council in January 2015.  Learning that at UB, dental education has the highest tuition of all UB’s graduate programs, I found it extremely important to be involved and advocate on behalf of our students and faculty alike, many of which are UB Dental graduates.   As a student, the alumni association provided us with many sponsorship opportunities and scholarships and it’s important that we continue to pay-it-forward.  Just recently in the last two years, with your membership dues and contributions, we were able to help fund two endowed chairs in which we were able to bring esteemed professors to chair the Orthodontics and Oral Surgery Departments.

Secondly, but equally important, I hope you choose to join or renew your dental alumni membership of this very strong and exciting organization.  Your membership and financial participation will help foster a great learning environment and provide the best possible experience for our students as they prepare to join this wonderful profession.

Carl M. Embury, DDS ’13
