Dear Fellow UB Dental Alumni

It is my pleasure to serve as President of our University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association for the next two years. The mission of our association shall be to advance the activities of the School of Dental Medicine and its alumni for the betterment of our school, alumni and profession.  With your membership and support we have been able to fulfill this mission for many years. This past year we celebrated the 125th anniversary of the School of Dental Medicine with many exciting events and accomplishments. The school has completed a state of the art pre-clinical simulation center and is proceeding with a long overdue complete renovation of the clinical floors and operatories.

Dental education stands among the most expensive of all University at Buffalo programs. State and university budget cuts have made it increasingly more difficult for the school to restructure the curriculum, develop faculty, and implement technology to keep pace with the changing landscape of our profession and dental education. We must recognize that a strong dental education program forms the basis of our current professional standing.  Our alumni association significantly contributes to our school by supporting programs, which promote the advancement of students, faculty, and staff. Alumni also serve in faculty, administration and governing bodies of the school and university. We should be proud that our dental school continues to be one of the top ranked schools in the U.S. and Internationally.

Please help the School of Dental Medicine maintain its position as the best supported alumni association at the University at Buffalo. Your membership dues and generous contributions will enable our faculty and staff to continue the long-standing tradition of educating the next generation of dental professionals.

Sincerely,

Joseph S. Modica, DDS ‘82
