Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program

This program is designed to reflect a private general practice within a dental school setting. Residents provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population  and receive experience in all facets of general dentistry, including significant exposure to implant dentistry and digital technology.

Interviews will take place in-person between October and November. Virtual interviews can be arranged on an individual basis

Match decisions released: January

Program start date: July 1

All application materials must be submitted by the deadline.

The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine AEGD Program accepts application materials through the American Dental Education Association, Postgraduate Application Support Service (PASS). This service enables applicants to send an original copy of most application materials to PASS for distribution to all the programs that the applicant selects. The department also participates in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching program (MATCH).

Note: Applicants taking the NBDE exam after the application deadline will be considered and must be able to submit a score before the Match deadline.

Note: US citizens or permanent residents of the United States and Canadian citizens are eligible to apply. Applicants must have DDS or DMD degree from the US or Canada. Candidates with training outside of the US or Canada are not eligible to apply.

  • Three Letters of Evaluation (Professional Evaluation Forms — PEFs); may be from academic faculty
  • Graduates of US or Canadian dental schools must submit an Institutional Evaluation Form (IEF) or Dean’s letter

  • Note international candidates: Academic documents from international institutions must be accompanied by an ECE or WES copy with the PASS application.  ECE course-by-course report is preferred.  A copy of certificate/diploma with proof of degree is suggested.
Dental Match

This program participates in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program. Candidates who interview should apply for the match at National Matching Services, Inc.
