Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program
This program is designed to reflect a private general practice within a dental school setting. Residents provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population and receive experience in all facets of general dentistry, including significant exposure to implant dentistry and digital technology.

For admission to the AEGD International Scholars Program, international candidates must apply to two programs via the UB Application system:
- Apply to AEGD program
- Submit a second Application to one of the following MS programs:
> Biomaterials
> Oral Sciences

The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine AEGD Program (traditional track) accepts application materials through the American Dental Education Association, Postgraduate Application Support Service (PASS). This service enables applicants to send an original copy of most application materials to PASS for distribution to all the programs that the applicant selects. The department also participates in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching program (MATCH).
Note: Applicants taking the NBDE exam after the application deadline will be considered and must be able to submit a score before the Match deadline.

- Three Letters of Evaluation (Professional Evaluation Forms — PEFs); may be from academic faculty
- Graduates of US or Canadian dental schools must submit an Institutional Evaluation Form (IEF) or Dean’s letter

- Note international candidates: Academic documents from international institutions must be accompanied by an ECE or WES copy with the PASS application. ECE course-by-course report is preferred. A copy of certificate/diploma with proof of degree is suggested.
Dental Match
This program participates in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program. Candidates who interview should apply for the match at National Matching Services, Inc.

International Scholars DO NOT use PASS. Please use the UB application link below. Please be reminded to also apply for one of our Master's program. A separate application must be submitted for each.

- You must select your desired entry term (i.e. Fall 2025) and intended program of study as you begin the application.
- Note international candidates: In the personal information section, be sure to enter your name exactly as it is on your passport.
2. $50.00 non-refundable application fee
- You will be able to pay the application fee via the link in your applicant portal. Please note that the $50 application fee is required and non-refundable.

- A MINIMUM of 5 letters are needed to complete an application:
- EVERY candidate MUST submit a letter from the applicant's institution. The letter must confirm academic and financial support from their institution indicating that the student will return to the home institution after program completion. Educational institution, teaching hospital or government agency support are accepted.
- EVERY candidate MUST have three Letters of Recommendation PLUS
- EVERY candidate MUST have a letter signed by the school's Dean or designee.
6. Unofficial transcripts from all institutions
- Transcript copies are sufficient at the time of application.
- Do not mail original documents.

International Applicants

7. English Language Proficiency
International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency via guidelines set by the University. A score report copy is sufficient.
The SDM accepts the following:
- TOEFL: 79 or higher
- IELTS: 6.5 or higher
- Duolingo: 120 or higher

A program specific Financial Form is a required application material and is accessible via the candidate portal.
