Joseph J. Zambon, SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Periodontics and Endodontics and dean of the School of Dental Medicine, announced that he will retire from UB.
The global race to develop new stem cell-based COVID-19 treatments during the pandemic was filled with violations of government regulations, inflated medical claims and distorted public communication, say the authors of a new perspective.
The research found that patients who used drugs prescribed to treat heartburn, acid reflux and ulcers were more likely to have smaller probing depths in the gums (the gap between teeth and gums).
Only a handful of oral hygiene tools actually prevent gum disease. At the moment, all other tools are only supported by insufficient evidence, say UB researchers.
The program – a partnership between UB Dental and the Eighth District Dental Society – will provide free dental care to nearly 200 Western New York veterans.
