Student Health Insurance

One of the requirements when attending the University is to have and maintain adequate medical insurance. All full-time domestic graduate students with nine (9) credit hours or more are automatically enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare StudentResources student plan. 

Domestic student health Insurance information is provided below:

• Due to May 2023 IDP program start, UB Student Health Insurance can allow international coverage between 4/15/23-8/14/23 with a premium of $855.76 added to your student account. 
• If you remain on the insurance plan for fall 2023 semester, the coverage will continue from 8/15/23 through 8/14/24.  At this time premiums for the fall and spring semesters are not yet available.
• Last year, the premium was $2,567.28.

NOTE: International students need to purchase the month prior to the new academic year.  So they can purchase 7/15/23-8/14/23 for a premium of $213.94 and then they would be enrolled in the fall 2023 semester 8/15/23-1/14/24-premium is still being determined.

The form below is created just for internatioanl dental school students who require the additional month of coverage due to classes starting earlier. The best way to get these back to our office is scanned to askshi@buffalo.edu Unfortunately, at this time there is no updated news on the International plan.   

If you were a registered UB undergraduate or graduate student during Spring 2023 semester, please contact our office if you are in need of medical insurance. The medical insurance is also available to any student with a minimum of one (1) credit hour – simply fill in the attached enrollment form.
