Student Health Insurance

One of the requirements when attending the University is to have and maintain adequate medical insurance. 

All full-time graduate students with nine (9) credit hours or more are automatically enrolled in the Blue Cross Blue Shield WNY student plan.  The premium will be approximately $2,298.00 and will be added to your student account and due with the tuition bill. Exact amount to be determined. 

The plan year begins 8/1/2022 through 7/31/2023.

Please find attached international enrollment form for coverage.  If students arrive before 7/15/22 they can purchase 6/15/22-8/14/22 or the entire summer 5/15/22-8/14/22.  This form is also available on their webpage: https://www.buffalo.edu/studentlife/life-on-campus/health/medical-care/health-insurance/international-students.html

The form below is created just for medical and dental school and can be used for the students who require the additional month of coverage due to classes starting earlier. The best way to get these back to our office is scanned to asksmi@buffalo.edu Unfortunately, at this time there is no updated news on the International plan.   

If you were a registered UB undergraduate or graduate student during Spring 2019 semester, please contact our office if you are in need of medical insurance. The medical insurance is also available to any student with a minimum of one (1) credit hour – simply fill in the attached enrollment form.  

If you are reading this and currently have private medical insurance coverage that has more than emergency coverage in Buffalo, NY you can apply for an on-line waiver at www.healthinsurance.buffalo.edu
