Cost of Attendance

  • The figures below reflect estimated expenses for one year of study. 
  • The estimated costs include tuition, fees, and program-specific expenses.  
  • Living and personal expenses - such as room, board and transportation - are not included below. They are estimated by and posted on the University's Office of Financial Aid page.
  • Additional required costs may be assessed to the student account including mandatory health insurance premiums for international students. 
  • Students concurrently enrolled in clinical and degree programs are charged the applicable tuition rate below; there is one tuition charge each semester that covers both programs in any given semester. Refer to the more expensive program's figure below (usually the clinical program) to appropriately budget for dental fees and other program-specific expenses.

Clinical Management System (CMS) Fee: Covers dental instrument sterilization, maintenance & replacement, and supports clinic computing costs.

Postgraduate (PG) Fee: Covers expenditures, equipment, computers, instruments, and supplies needed for higher-level course instruction.

Indirect Program Costs: Detailed on each program's admissions page, as applicable. The cost of attendance displayed here includes Year 1 expenses.

In-State Tuition*

Newly admitted students to University at Buffalo graduate and professional programs who have indicated New York State (NYS) residency status on their application will be required to submit documentation for verification of residency status.

After receipt of an admissions decision, students must provide three proof of domicile documents as specified in The SUNY NYS residency policy. Please reference The NYS residency verification information page to view additional information and acceptable document types.
