All School of Dental Medicine Advanced Education programs use a holistic admissions approach.

NBDE Score Note:

Applications will be considered without NBDE documentation but evidence of INBDE or NBDE Part I & II is required before the Match deadline.

  • The Traditional one-year residency program is for candidates with DDS or DMD degrees from the US or Canada.  Residents complete the 12-month program in a full-time capacity.  Applicants must also be citizens or permanent residents of the US or Canada.  Applications/acceptances are through PASS/MATCH.  
  • The two-year International Scholars Program is for internationally trained dentists.  The program is two-years in length since participants simultaneously complete a masters degree program.   Candidates must be financially supported by their host institution (dental schools, teaching hospitals and government institutions) and document that they will return to the institution upon program completion. Applications are submitted via the UB Application. 
    Self-supported candidates are not eligible and may want to consider our International Dentist Program.

General Admissions Requirements

The University sets general admissions requirements for graduate study.  These include a minimum undergraduate GPA and demonstration of English Language proficiency for international applicants.
