Disney, Pixar films can be a springboard to talk to kids about death, UB study finds

The Guardian reports on a study led by UB's Kelly Tenzek, which finds that emotional films by these two studios can help caregivers have difficult conversations with children. U.S. News and World Report and other outlets also covered the research. "These films can be used as conversation starters for difficult and what are oftentimes taboo topics like death and dying," Tenzek, a clinical assistant professor of communication, said.
