An article in the International Business Times reports a recent study has found that energy drinks are strongly associated with increased risks for heavy drinking and alcohol dependency, and quotes Kathleen Miller research scientist at the Research Institute on Addictions. "Caffeine does not antagonize or cancel out the impairment associated with drunkenness – it merely disguises the more obvious markers of that impairment, she said.
