Clinical Translational Research in Periodontal and Associated Diseases

Dr. Genco and his staff have carried out 15 human randomized controlled trials to test products, 3 of which have received FDA approval (Atridox, Arrestin and GEM-21S). They have also carried out clinical/epidemiologic studies on over 5,000 individuals, exploring oral systemic relationships. They work in two clinics, the Periodontal Disease Research Clinic in Foster Hall and the Preventive Medicine, Women’s Health Clinic in the School of Public Health and Health Related Professions. They are presently carrying out translational research applying next generation sequencing to explore the genome and microbiome in epidemiologic and clinical studies.
