An Associated Press article reports that a collection of gold and silver coins, dating as far back as the fifth century B.C., was uncovered at the University at Buffalo. The coins had sat untouched in the archives since being donated in 1935. The Associated Press story quotes Philip Kiernan, an assistant professor of classics, who tracked down the coins after hearing a rumor about them from an alumnus. Kiernan, along with Michael Basinski, interim director of special collections, described the find as ‘priceless.’ Articles appeared in news outlets throughout the nation, including ABC News, Cape Cod Online, American Libraries Magazine and National Public Radio. Local coverage included The Buffalo News, WKBW, WIVB and WBFO.
