TIME Magazine’s Techland reports on UB research exploring sound wave use inside the human body

An article on TIME Magazine’s Techland reports on research by Tommaso Melodia, associate professor of electrical engineering, to explore the use of sound waves in place of electromagnetic signals to network devices inside the human body. “Think of how the Navy uses sonar to communicate between submarines and detect enemy ships,” he said. “It’s the same principle, only applied to ultrasonic sensors that are small enough to work together inside the human body and more effectively help treat diseases.” An article about Melodia’s research also appeared on Discovery.
