The School of Management has launched a new video series, “Two Minute Tuesdays,” featuring faculty and their research.
The idea came last fall after a number of faculty gave 15-minute presentations to the school’s Dean’s Advisory Council. Senior staff attended a dry run of the presentations, and everyone who saw them wanted to showcase the faculty with their respective audiences — prospective and current students, alumni, donors, recruiters and more.
A video series was the solution, according to Jackie Ghosen, assistant dean and director of communications in the School of Management.
“Our goal was to highlight emerging thought leaders and give our viewers a sense of the interesting topics our faculty members are working on,” says Ghosen.
“Keeping the videos short was a challenge — some of the research represented years of work,” she says. “But our faculty rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and, with the help of Regina Ticco and her team in Media Services, we developed a series of eight videos, all under two minutes each.”
A new video appears each Tuesday on the school’s website, social media and several other platforms, and then they move to their permanent home on the faculty research website.
“Initial feedback has been outstanding,” Ghosen says. “We’ve got some long-term metrics in place and we are already planning a series for next year.”
The most recent video features Arun Lakshmanan discussing the ‘Aha!’ experience consumers have when they teach themselves to use a new tech product.
