Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Clinical Assistant Professor
Obstetrics and Gynecology
As a general obstetrician and gynecologist, I provide comprehensive care for women of all ages. I provide preconception counseling, prenatal care while pregnant and perform deliveries as well. I also treat non-pregnant women who require gynecologic services ranging from preventative screening with pap smears, and provide other gynecologic treatment for uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, postmenopausal bleeding, contraceptive management and much more.
My primary office is UBMD Obstetrics-Gynecology with locations at Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo and Transit Road in Amherst. My partners and I provide services at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo as well as Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital.
I am dedicated to my research in obstetrics with particular interest in the efficacy of emergent cervical cerclages and the use of water births as an alternative to birthing in a hospital bed. I am currently involved in a multi-center clinical trial to determine new testing methods that can be used to detect preterm labor.
At the University at Buffalo, I am an integral part of medical student teaching. I serve as a physician mentor to first and second year medical students where I provide early career guidance to the medical students through the rigorous basic science years. I am always eager to volunteer at the student run free clinic where students are able to provide medical care to members of the community who do not have access to health care. I have a strong interest in resident education and provide daily teaching while on labor and delivery and in the outpatient clinics.
I am an advocate for diversity and inclusion and serve on the Dean’s Committee to enhance the diversity of students, staff and faculty at UB. I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Buffalo in 2010 where I will continue to serve the Buffalo community as a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UB.
