The 2012 meeting for the Eastern Society of Teachers of Oral Pathology (ESTOP) will be hosted by the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts on September 7-9, 2012. The meeting will be held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, located in Bostonís Back Bay district.
As in past years, the meeting will begin with a welcome reception on Friday evening, continue with a seminar Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., and conclude with our Sunday morning case exchange, also at 8:30 a.m. This year, we are fortunate to be joined by two guest speakers for Saturday morningís seminar in hematopathology. Dr. Nancy Lee Harris, Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Judith Ferry, Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, will present a collaborative lecture entitled "Lymphomas and Their Mimics." This will include an overview of the WHO classification of lymphomas as well as a detailed discussion of lymphoid proliferations and their light microscopic and immunohistochemical evaluation. Objectives of the conference are to enhance participantsí understanding of oral extra-nodal lymphomas, assist in the diagnostic workup of lymphoid proliferations, and promote collaboration among pathologists and residents. Participants who attend both Saturday and Sunday mornings' events will earn three hours of CERP certified continuing education credits each day.
Remaining time is free for participants to enjoy the city of Boston. The city is known for its historic Freedom Trail, John F. Kennedy Library, Quincy Market, science and art museums, and its championship sports teams (despite a setback last Sunday). Baseball fans may be pleased to learn that the Boston Red Sox will be playing a home series against the Toronto Blue Jays that weekend at legendary Fenway Park, a short walk or T-ride from the Marriott.
The registration fee of $275 ($175 for residents presenting a signed letter from their program directors) includes the reception, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and a CD-ROM containing all cases presented. The meeting will be held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, where a limited number of twenty-five (25) rooms is being held for our group at the very reasonable (by Boston standards) rate of $169+tax/night. Reservations must be made by the individual traveler prior to August 7 by calling 617-236-5800 (mention "ESTOP" for the discounted rate) or clicking the hotelís link below:
