BUFFALO, N.Y.  – University at Buffalo officials will provide a construction update and preview of the new home of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at a lunch and presentation at noon today, Oct. 27, 2016, at Chef’s Restaurant, 291 Seneca St. in Buffalo.

Presentations will begin at 12:35 p.m. Sponsored by the UB Alumni Association for alumni and friends of the university, the event is sold-out. Seats are available for the media.

Officials will discuss how the new building will be an anchor of the region’s academic health center in downtown Buffalo. Benefits of the new building will be highlighted, including how it will improve medical education, expand the number of physicians the school trains, boost biomedical research and collaborations with Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus partners and strengthen Western New York’s economy.

Unique construction elements in the building that allow for more innovative education, as well as new facilities for surgical simulation, also will be discussed.

UB speakers are:

  • Jennifer Kuhn, project manager for the medical school
  • Suzanne Laychock, PhD, senior associate dean for faculty affairs and facilities
  • Andrew Koenig, assistant dean for projects and planning.
