Faculty Research Profile

Jill M. Kramer is an assistant professor in the Department of Oral Biology, School of Dental Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She received her D.D.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and her certificate in oral and maxillofacial pathology from the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She completed her post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas L. Rothstein at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.

She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association for Dental Research, the Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation, and the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. In addition, she serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine and Cytokine.

Dr. Kramer seeks to integrate her clinical training with her research interests, and focuses her research on autoimmune conditions affecting the oral cavity. She is a recipient of an NIDCR career development award to study autoantibodies and chemotaxis in Sjogren’s syndrome.

Present Research Interests:

1. Initiating events in the development of Sjogren’s syndrome with emphasis on innate immune
2. B cell dysfunction in Sjogren’s syndrome
3. Identification and targeting of chemotactic factors that contribute to disease pathogenesis
